| Greetings again Iris. I take the opportunity in your new guestbook to thank you for commemorating the brave souls who stood vigil along the stormy coasts of the world. I have an article on lightships which will appear in a forthcoming issue of Sea Classics magazine. It begins with a resume of one of my favorite novels, Lightship by Archie Binns. It has been out of print since the late 1930s but I highly recommend it as a wonderful group biography of the nine crew aboard Lightship 167, guarding the treacherous Umatilla reef off Washington State, USA in the 1920s. I continue to collect lightship models produced by Classic Ship Collection in Travemunde and read all I can about these fascinating vessels. Your web-site is "information central" in this search. | Liebe Iris, ich habe den Reisebericht zum FS-Treffen in Hamburg gelesen und bin sehr erfreut. Du hast es einmal wieder erreicht, ohne übertriebenen Pathos die erlebte Stimmung wiederzugeben. Es hat mir Spaß gemacht, den Bericht zu lesen. Alle erlebten Gefühle kamen wieder zum Vorschein. Es war ein besonderes Erlebnis. Vielen Dank für Deine Mühe und die schönen Bilder. | My father, who is about to turn 90 years old was the pilot of the helicopter that rescued Ronald Murton from the Goodwin Lightship in 1954. If anyone has any information about Mr. Murton's whereabouts or his family's please email me. Also if anyone has any other information or documentation about the rescue please let me know.
